1. How much do home care services cost in Melbourne?
It really depends on which services, and the level of care, you need, and whether you’re eligible for government assistance i.e. a Home Care Package or the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (these are changing to the new Support at Home programme from July 1st 2025).
2. Can I access government funding for aged care services?
Again, it depends. Many senior Australians are definitely eligible for some level of government-assisted aged care services. However, those with assets that exceed certain thresholds may not be. Your initial assessment will determine if, and how much, government assistance you’ll be able to access.
3. What types of care can you provide?
Aunty Grace provides customised personal care, domestic assistance, nursing and health support, social support and companionship, and transport assistance services. Your bespoke Care Plan can incorporate any or all of these services as required. For however long they’re required.
4. Are your caregivers qualified and experienced?
Yes they are. All Aunty Grace caregivers and support staff have extensive experience and qualifications in their field. They’re also culturally responsive, compassionate, and treat every client with respect, dignity, and individual attention.
5. Can I choose the same caregiver for each visit?
You certainly can. In fact, we try to match every client with caregivers who can provide consistency and on-going friendship. We also like to match them with your language, culture, specific dietary requirements, and so on.
6. How flexible are your service hours?
Our care plans are 100% flexible, and can be adapted to suit YOU and your lifestyle. If you need someone during the day, in the evenings, or on weekends, we’ll factor those service hours into your plan.
7. What happens during the initial assessment?
One of our care teams will either visit you (and your family) at home, or arrange a time for an online consultation. During this initial assessment, we’ll discuss your daily routine and care preferences, and your long-term goals for your care. Then we’ll come up with a personalised plan that incorporates what we’ve discussed.
8. Can you help with medical appointments?
Yes, we can provide transport and help to get to your medical appointments.
9. What is the difference between home care and residential aged care?
Home care, like the type we provide at Aunty Grace, supplies a range of services that make it possible for you to continue living in your own home. Residential aged care provides 24/7 care for seniors who live in dedicated aged care facilities.
10. What is a Home Care Package (HCP)?
A Home Care Package is the current Federal government-funded program that provides at-home care services for eligible seniors. There are several levels of funding, or ‘packages'. Which one you’re eligible for is determined by assessment, and factors in your overall health, mobility, and specific care needs.
11. What if my needs change over time?
Your care needs will almost certainly change over time so your Care Plan needs to be flexible and customisable. In consultation with you and your family, we can add and remove services as required so you’re not paying for ones you don't need, or going without ones you do need.
12. Do you provide respite care?
Yes, we do. We can arrange for carers to take over your care to give your family, or friends, a well-earned break. It can be anything from a few hours to a few weeks, or longer.
13. How can I get started with your aged care services?
Contact us via phone, email, or our website. We’ll arrange a personalised assessment so we understand your lifestyle and care requirements. Then we develop a customised Care Plan for you. If you’re eligible for HCP funding, we'll help with that process as well.
14. Is there a minimum commitment for services?
At Aunty Grace, we focus on offering flexible care options, whether it’s short-term support or ongoing assistance. This approach allows you to access the services you need when you need them without being tied to an extended or long-term contract.
